Saving the Planet…one wrapper at a time.
At an assembly in Term 2 the Enviro Squad presented this video showing some of the effects of littering. Every wrapper you don’t drop could save a life. Every wrapper you don’t use doesn’t end up in our oceans or landfill.

Dear world,
Wow! Who knew even one wrapper could cause a death and one wrapper that wasn’t thrown could save a life. Even though I never leave my wrappers around this video has inspired me to pick up any wrapper that are lying around In the school yard.
I hope this video and comment has inspired you.

Dear HJ
I agree with you and I’m very shocked that small pieces of rubbish can kill billions of birds. It’s so sad.

Hi HJ,
I definitely agree with you. Who knew wrappers and all the rubbish that doesn’t go into the bin could travel that far onto a deserted island and kill animals? I also feel inspired to pick up rubbish in the school yard at recess and lunch so that there will be less rubbish in our school yards. I felt sorry for the birds and animals on the island when I was watching the video in assembly. They didn’t deserve to die and they didn’t do anything to us and here we are littering and killing animals.
I hope you enjoyed reading my comment and agree with me,

Dear world,
I want share with you about Enviro news.
Envire birds were not sick then one day the baby enviros died. A lot of them had plastic all around their homes so they died. In the video this man took rubbish out of the baby bird and other days they died. It made me feel sad and in the end new baby birds were born. Birds fly though the sky.
I hope you liked it and thank you for reading!

Dear World,
When I first saw this video at assembly, it really kicked in how much the world litters. All this rubbish probably wasn’t even 1/1,000,000 of what the world litters. It’s sad we had to find out this way, but we need to know so some students of the school can learn from their mistakes.

Dear world,
I was extremely moved by this video. I never knew how real this littering problem was until now that I have seen this video. I can’t help noticing that even in our school there is a lot of rubbish flying around everywhere and no one is doing anything about it. And what bothers me the most is that people are not respecting the environment or the school and leaving their rubbish on the ground. Also no one is doing anything about it, if everyone in the school picked up one piece of rubbish a day then the school would be totally rubbish free. Another thing is that sometimes the rubbish on the ground has accidentally ended up there, like it could have blown out of the bin or fallen out of someone’s pocket. To ensure that doesn’t happen, each person should put their wrapper in the bin immediately after they have finished with it and take a moment to make sure it is placed correctly in the bin.
